My New Book

Impact, Legacy and Reading in the Bathroom

Friends, I am going to ask for your indulgence for a few minutes as I depart from my usual newsletter content.

I have been blessed by so much in my life. I live in the greatest country on earth. I married the woman of my dreams and we have three amazing kids. My work gives me great satisfaction and I have built and fostered some truly wonderful friendships. The best news of all is that I likely still have half my life ahead of me. With that in mind, a few years ago, I decided to take a step back, check in and take stock of the life I have lived and the life I intend to live in the years to come.

I was not experiencing a mid-life crisis, per se, I just decided to re-visit the “script” I had written in my head so many years ago. Was I simply facing each day as it came, or did I have a larger vision for my life? Had I made the best use of my time? Did I truly appreciate the “gift” that was my family, friends and career? More importantly, what had I learned from the experiences of my life and what did I want to do with the time I had left? My life was good, but was I truly living my life in a way that would leave a positive and memorable legacy? I realized that it was not a search for meaning that I was experiencing, but more accurately, a quest for impact.

It was in that spirit of introspection, retrospection and gratitude that I set out to write my first book. That book became a reality when my literary agent sold the rights to a major publisher – securing national distribution and cementing a deal with a great publisher who is committed to the success of this book and eager to shine a bright light on the message.

That book: The Gift in Every Day – Little Lessons On Living a Big Life is now complete and is available through all the major online retailers and at bookstores nationwide. I launched the book in my hometown of Denver last week, and have already done 16 radio and television interviews across the country in just over a week!

I’ve been receiving heartwarming feedback from readers who’ve purchased early copies and I am humbled. Sure the book is a little sappy, but it’s also very funny and irreverent as well as rather poignant and a little thought-provoking. It’s perfect for the nightstand or the bathroom when you’ve got a few uninterrupted minutes. Of course, it also make a wonderful holiday gift!

Ya know, being a long time PR/Marketing guy, it’s kind of gratifying to actually promote my own work for a change!

The book is available at bookstores nationwide, or with all the online retailers. You can learn more about the book and link to Amazon through my website at www.thegiftineveryday.com. Also, please feel free to forward this message to other friends and colleagues!

Thanks so much for your support. It is truly a gift.

I’ll be back with a new e-zine in a few weeks with some new found perspective on promotion from the perspective of the one being promoted!
